My name is Maggie Raynard. After sixteen years being just plain me, suddenly, when I lose my temper, my fingers become weapons of mass destruction. Turns out I'm a semi-god, descended from Aphrodite. Sounds cool in theory, but when I accidentally put my ex-boyfriend in a coma, things go downhill pretty fast.
Now some new guy named Mac Finnegan has made it his mission in life to continually piss me off. I'm stuck learning how to use my new powers while also dealing with regular high school problems, and with this annoying—and super-hot—guy all up in my business, I'm about to flip out.
But it gets worse. I just learned there's this watchdog council of semis who keeps an eye out for any bad apples. They think I'm the baddest of the bunch and want to take me out before I do any more damage. My nemesis Mac might turn out to be my salvation, only he's got secrets of his own...and they may just kill us both.

My feelings for this book are a lot like the feelings of the main character, a teenage girl, they go up and down. For the most part I liked most of this book, but there were times when I felt like it was maybe just a little too much. The book is about a girl named Maggie who a year before found out she is descended from Gods, the Goddess Aphrodite to be exact. She has the power to strip away love from others. Unable to control her power she caused an accident and her ex-boyfriend is now lying in a coma. A while has gone by and the governing council has sent their agent to investigate Maggie and find out if she needs her powers stopped. Mac and Maggie are instantly attracted to each other but must fight it because she is the object of his investigation and he needs to remain objective.

For the most part I enjoyed this book. The story moved really fast and it was a quick read. I don't mind insta-attraction, especially when the character chemistry is sizzling. I like that all it is only attraction because no one is declaring their love. After all, hello, they barely know each other. I liked the story itself, the mystery behind the gods, demigods, and semi gods in very interesting. I thought the ending was really good and very intense. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how Mac and Maggie would get out of the mess in the end. There were parts of the book that moved a little slow, but I know it was there because they helped move the story along. I thought all the fighting between Mac and Maggie in the beginning could have been sped up, it was entertaining but for me the story really picks up when they decide to play nice. The book was kind of cheesy and light, but definitely romantic. This book is geared for older teens because there is quite a bit of cussing. The dialogue is true to how teens talk because they do cuss a lot. Some of the pop culture references and "hella goods" do come off as kind of cheesy and I don't think all teens talk like that.

In the end I liked Chaos and enjoyed the story. It was light, fun, brain candy. I look forward to reading more books in the series. I give Chaos three and a half laser pistols and round it up to four. This book reminded me of the Lux series and Dante Walker series and I think it will appeal to readers who enjoy these books.
