When Nadia’s family moves to Captive’s Sound, she instantly realizes there’s more to it than meets the eye. Descended from witches, Nadia senses a dark and powerful magic at work in her new town. Mateo has lived in Captive’s Sound his entire life, trying to dodge the local legend that his family is cursed - and that curse will cause him to believe he’s seeing the future … until it drives him mad. When the strange dreams Mateo has been having of rescuing a beautiful girl—Nadia—from a car accident come true, he knows he’s doomed.

Despite the forces pulling them apart, Nadia and Mateo must work together to break the chains of his family’s terrible curse, and to prevent a disaster that threatens the lives of everyone around them. Shimmering with magic and mystery, New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray’s new novel is sure to draw fans of the Hex Hall and Caster Chronicles series, and fans of the hit CW TV show The Secret Circle.

This book wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Just another run of the mill book about witches. This book is about a new girl who moves into a new town and discovers there is something fishy about the new town she jsut moved to. After her father's car hits a magical wall and they are rescued by a good looking guy she knows she will have her work cut out for her as a witch in this town.

Captive Sound is a town full of secrets and Nadia is going to find out what they are. What did I think about this book? It was a decent listen. I liked the evil witch who has sold her soul for unimaginable power. I don't know what that says about the two main characters when I find their opposition more interesting. I liked her back story and she gave me the creeps.

Nadia finds out that the good looking guy who saved her is cursed by an evil witch and she sets out to set him free and save the town. It turns out that Mateo's best friend is now what she seems.

Nadia and Mateo are fighting an attraction for each other. It kind of got on my nerves that they didn't fight very long and were declaring their love after only a few eeks.

The narrator, Kristine Hvam, did a good job. I have listened to books narrated by her before and she didn't disappoint in Spellcaster. In the end, the book was just ok and for that reason I give Spellcaster three laser pistols. This book ends with it being open for more. I will probably read the next book in the series.
